DxOMark - Compare sensors

Interesting that the K-5's new Sony sensor is so good. The switch to the Sony seems to be a good choice. Samsung had their chance I guess.

Does anyone happen to know how "flawless" the Nikon and Canon are?

DXO results just came out on the D7000. Probably the same sensor as the K-5. Results are very similar. Though the D7000 isn't as solidly built or as feature rich as the K-5, I imagine that the successor to the D300s will be. Nikon put the same sensor in the D90 and the D300, so it's possible that they will put the same Sony sensor in their higher range model. IQ should be similar, possibly a bit better as Nikon has more time to work on algorithms and electronics.

Canon's 7D doesn't have the dynamic range or quite the high ISO capacity (close here) as the K-5 but it does have higher resolution and is an excellent video DSLR. All-in-all, Pentax some bragging rights over the big boys in the field but hasn't left them in the dust.

Yes the k-5 seems.impressive. I am just a little concerned about the current bugs with the flash that people are experiencing. The thing is, I do not hear anything about problems the other brands have. I had the Canon xti where the pop-up flash failed within a year even though I never used it.....
