Catch in Focus Battery life

Hi,

I am eager to play with the "catch in focus" capability for foxes in my garden and was wondering how long the battery lasts in catch in focus mode?

I was thinking of leaving the camera on overnight or longer as they dont seem to be scared by my security lights in the garden.

Does anyone know how long, approx, the batteries will last if the camera is left in catch in focus mode (6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours).

I am thinking of a K20D but any Pentax DSLR would be OK

Many thanks

I have never left CIF running long enough to find out but if you feel like investing in the AC power supply then any possible problem is solved. Especially if you are leaving it outside on cold nights.

True, but not very elegant. I would be worried about them biting it.

If they bite the wrong cord, they might only do it once!

I think CIF does use more battery power. Whenever I use it, my battery indicator seems to deplete more rapidly, even if I don't take that many pics.

I'm not sure about CIF, but I set up my K20 to take a series of night sky photos - it was on for about 4 1/2 hours and still had plenty of power left for me to review the photos (about 250) - and continue using the same set of batteries for several more days. Of course, I am using Eneloop batteries which makes a huge difference in battery life. YMMV
