Well, i turned the camera off, the camera turned back on fine. Is this normal for the red light to continue to flash after it says completed? Or should i do a second update just in case.....

Did it say completed?
What do you think it's trying to tell you?
I tend to think it's trying to tell you that it's completed.

Yes, but i have had experiences with my PC where it said that the device was ejected, but something was still reading to it when i pulled it out, and corrupted my flash drive in the process. I was just worried that something was still being read from the card. I guess nothing to worry about then eh?

You should probably read the README.TXT file...

The readme file explains that the red light does NOT stop flashing once its completed updating?

It doesn't mention the light, but the wording is pretty clear:

QuoteQuote:
8. When update is completed, the "COMPLETE" will be displayed at the left bottom of the LCD monitor, then turn the camera off.

Obviously i am a dumbass idiot who doesn't realize that sometimes a flashing light means "no activity"

No one's said you're an idiot. Clearly the flashing light is confusing to some.

Yes you obviously are, and otoh; the retreads who code for Pentax are geniuses because they consider a flashing red light signal is acceptable mutually inclusive indicator for both severe warning danger and safe to use completed.

Their ID 10 T logic astounded me too when I first struck it.

Nah, just a dumbass idiot who doesn't realize that "completed" means what it says.
Why, pray tell, would you think that something unrelated on a PC would have anything to do with a camera, BTW?

I suppose it is not especially clever using the SD busy light this way, as the message normally is: "when I'm lit do *not* remove the card or physically (*) cut power".

(*) under normal circumstances I assume the power switch is a soft one which means it can be actually used to flush buffers to card :-)

I dunno, it seems to me that reading the instructions that came packed with the firmware update is clear enough.

"8. When update is completed, the "COMPLETE" will be displayed at the left
bottom of the LCD monitor, then turn the camera off."

A brass band leaping out of the camera and playing a rousing Sousa march would be over the top, and people would still question whether the update had completed.
