It seems to work well for me. When I first got my K10 I did do a few tests using nothing more technical them my eyes on blown up sections of the photo. The ones with the SR on were considerably sharper with a lot less blur down to about 2 1/2 stops.
As I get older and my hands are less steady this has been a god send.

For me, SR tends to be effective to about 2-1/2 stops. I've had very good shots at 1/15 at the long end of the 18-55mm kit lens.

Hand-held with 85mm lens at 1/8s was proof enough for me.
