how can u tell which firmware yr k200d came with? & how 2 update firmware?

1.00 is the original firmware, and the update is for 1.01

You can get it here- just but the bin file on your SD card and press the menu button while starting up. More instructions here as well: Latest K200D Firmware Update : Software Downloads : PENTAX

I may be off base on this but I don't think there have been any major updates for the K200D (of which I own two). Maybe they got it done right the first time, don't know. But good luck.

The first part of your question asked how do you ascertain which version of firmware is installed on you Pentax K200D. This is a very simple procedure:

Turn your camera on while holding down the MENU button.

The version number will appear in the center of the LCD screen

The original firmware shipped with the Pentax K200D from January 2008 was v1.00. Thus far there has been only one firmware update and this is v1.01 which was released in 2010. It chiefly resolves issues with some SDHC memory cards and also has an updated lens database.
