Here's what you should try-
Take an ordinary photo using raw, and make sure it's got lots of colors and both shadows and highlights (landscape works well).
Then, upload the photo to the pentax photo browser. You will be able to play around with the "custom image setting", which will show you in real-time what the in-camera JPEG would have looked like.
