Cheapest Kx - Australia.

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of the best value Kx - kit or otherwise in Aus. I'm based in Sydney & I think JBHIFI is my best bet but thought maybe someone would know of a cheaper store. There price at the moment w/ the
18-55mm Lens for $693.00.

Thanks in advance,
- M

You could try:
Pentax K-x / 18-55mm - Price Comparison - Buy Cheap in Australia

Ryda seems to have the best local deals.

OfficeWorks also sell the K-x and if you go to them with a competitors price (eg off a website like JB's) they will match it and take 5% off the matched price as well.

I tend to agree with rawr...I bought my K-x through Ryda early this year, the twin lens kit, for a tad over $800, and by the time shipping and extended warranty was paid, I had it for around $950. The additional lens was the 50-200mm.

Prices should have dropped since then (lucky you) with the Aus$ faring much better at the moment. Can't comment on the kit lenses, been too busy using the older ones from the old K1000.

Cheers Paddy

With the AU$ almost at parity with the US$ considering a well-established seller in the US might be worthwhile? For < US$500 see e.g. 17536 Pentax K-x Digital SLR Navy Blue Camera with Black 18-55mm DA-L Lens or Pentax Pentax K-x Digital SLR with 18-55mm Zoom Lens 16301 B&H). A special plus with these two is that buying from them supports this site (a procedure applies). P&p and import duties might ruin the deals, though.

JB Hifi are amenable to bargaining.
I had a sales person at JB on Pitt St Sydney reduce the list price of the K-x + kit lens from $693 to $580 just because it was the last one and she wanted to clear the shelf to make room for the next camera (probably the D7000...)

Anyway, all the best in your hunt for one - you could also try this forum's marketplace, you'll get it second hand, but it'll be considerably cheaper still.

Hey Ash,

Thanks for that, I've done a lot of haggling at JB and their usually quite good. Would you happen to have a copy of your receipt that I could get of you, that way they'll price match it for sure?

If not, no worries.

Thanks again.

The other place you could try is:
Pentax K-x Kit 18-55mm lens also known as Pentax Kx Digital SLR Cameras

It's imported stock, but they do provide an 'AUS warranty'.

JB have 15% off camera gear tonight if anyone's interested: JB Friends and Family

Having said that, with Xmas fast approaching, I'm sure there'll be further sales later this month and at the Boxing day sales....

Yeah, that 15% is why I was steering toward JB but I know that O/Works will give 5% off on a price match so may be swung by that.

It's all a gamble, really.

Responded to by PM.
But most big electronics stores would be more than happy to price match.
Enjoy shopping for it.

Great days work , even though retailers are dumping their last K-x stock like the plague locally here, that's still a shit hot price.
Fyi: JB-stupids at Northland Vic. didn't have any K-x left last tuesday when they managed to twist my arm with a K-r deal too good to refuse.
