Vivitar 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 lenses for Pentax K-x

I have a Vivitar 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 manual lenses that I used with my slr Pentax ME Super. However, ME super broke down and now I really want to use this lenses with my Pentax Kx but the mount won't fit! There is that little piece of steel that prevents the lenses lock. Is there any adaptor that I could use? I could use some help Thanks in advance

Some Vivitar lenses have an extended light shield that takes up more space than a regular Pentax lens light shield. Compare the two, you'll see the difference. The light shield is flat black, on the inner edge of the lens mount, outside the lens's rear element. If you have a small screwdriver set (like Phillips #00 or #000) you can remove just the light shield. Your lens will probably mount fine without it. It can be sawed, Dremeled or filed to resemble the smaller version Pentax uses. Obviously it's better to do that with the part off the lens. A search in the lens forum should turn up photos of the procedure.

I had something similar on a different Vivitar lens (on the lower side of the lens when mounted). That shield was part of the mount so I had to remove the mount and grind the shield away. Took about 15min with a Black&Decker driller and a grinding bit.

As well as making the modification with the part removed from the lens, another thing to remember is to paint the modified areas matt black before you replace it. If you leave them shiny silver you'll get weird reflections in the optical path.
