K-x has a crack

Hi all. Im kinda new here - posting at least.

My beloved white k-x has a small crack near the flash housing like in the mock up picture posted.
This is barely noticeable, thiner than an hair, but im afraid that it will eventually start to get ugly in time.

Does anyone have any idea of the possible way to fix / cover this crack?

Would the warranty cover something as this? It wasnt dropped and Im always careful when opening and closing the flash - which I rarely use.

I really love this camera and want it to last at least as much as I do.

I cannot see how it can crack like this if not dropped. Maybe push for a warranty repair if it was true.

That is not a photo of the actual crack. Its a photo from a k-x with a line I drew to mark the crack - the real crack is really thin and i dont have any other camera capable of capturing the detail.

I would send it to pentax, I bet they will cover it if there is no collateral damage.
Happened to my Kodak DC4800 and over time it got larger and spread a fair bit.

If the crack turned up by itself then the only reasonable explanation would seem to be manufacturing defect which the warranty should cover.

Warranty for sure but if not then you can cover the crack with super glue (although that might stain the plastic) or with a clear coat.

not to be taken as advice in this particular case, since you have a warranty, but fyi the way to stop a crack from spreading is to drill a small hole at the leading end.

Thank you all for your advice. I will contact the Pentax portuguese support and see what they say. I will post their reply here for anyone who (lets hope not) happens to run into similar trouble.

Maybe theyll say :"Sorry thats our fault! Here have a new k-x and a k-5 for your trouble!"

I guess if you're going to dream it might as well be a worthwhile dream

Good luck with it and welcome aboard.
