Should I try to repair K-x myself?

My sister-in-law had a bit too much eggnog at our Xmas dinner and accidently swept my k-x off a hutch. It took about a four foot fall to a wooden floor. Kit lens attached. Lens was fine, camera still takes good pix, but lower part of the body in back was displaced. Specifically, plastic popped out a bit just below the diopter running to the right below the wheel. The bump under the wheel is pushed out enough (1/16 in?) that it has made it difficult to thumb the wheel. I cannot pop it back in by pushing. Should I try to unscrew the four tiny screws on the sides to open the camera and reseat the back piece, or just send it in to Pentax for the repair? I bought it in April from Abes of Maine (I'm in Cali), so a warranty may be in effect, but I doubt for this.
Advice on how best to proceed?

You could try. There are instructions online for modding (Canon) DSLR's for astrophotography or IR. I suspect the procedure is very similar for the K-x.

I found a piece on the K10D. I know it won't be the same, but should be similar.
