K10D battery indication

Did anyone ever find a remedy for the K10's sudden-death low battery indication? Mine does it with genuine and pattern batteries. To be fair it hasn't caught me out because I always keep a charged spare in my pocket but I can't believe it was designed that way.

I experienced the same thing during christmas - only saved by the spare one in the battery grip
any way to avoid going from full charge (on the indicator) to no battery at all?

I don't even bother to look at the display any more, I know when the batteries are dead - it stops working!

The display is completely useless.

You're right!

I just wondered if anyone had found a way of making it do something useful.

I like your icescapes, btw, even the bypass looks picturesque. I've been meaning to visit Coalbrookdale for years and haven't got round to it yet.

This is pretty much how it works.

Unless you need to change any settings, then it is three shots at the most.

I use the same workaround as many others - I bought the grip and a second battery.

When the camera starts giving warnings I know I've used half my power and pull the depleted battery to charge it and keep shooting on the charged one. I rotate the batteries after charging so the freshest battery is always in the body.
