Getting a flashing F when I try using an SMC Pentax-M 1.7 lens with my K10D

I bought a couple of older Pentax lenses today with hopes of using them for video when I buy a KR. When I put the 1.7 50 mm lens on my K10D all I get is a "flashing F ---" (that's not an obscenity either) readout and nothing works. Any suggestions? I mounted a Sigma 28 "mini wide" 2.8 but is has an A function on the lens and it works fine in Manual mode.

Hi altrace
Be sure to set "use aperture ring" to allow in the custom menu. You still won't see the F stop of course with a "M" lens and need to use M mode.

So am I just guessing the exposure and shutter speed? No manual indicator at all?

So the 50mm f1.7 lens makes your camera blink F--? I think it's defective. I'll give ya five bucks for it.

I'm kidding of course.

See item #4.

A pencil and paper works quite nicely for recording aperture of individual shots on these types of lenses (seriously).
