K10D iso 100 noise - bit disappointing

I just got a new K10D for a very good price and I am very pleased with the value I got for my money.

The only thing is, I was given to understand that the K10D takes very low noise images at 100-200 iso. Some even say it produces better low iso images than the K20 or K7 (I have owned the latter). While the images are sharp enough, noise-wise the K10 appears to be a bit of a disappointment.

Here is a 100 iso shot that shows quite a bit of noise in the background. Any comments?

I do not see much background noise from these low-res jpeg shots.

However, as WerTicus mentioned, it is near impossible to comment without the EXIF data and higher quality JPEG/RAW.

highest quality jpeg out of the camera, iso 100, bright mode, +2 sharpness, +1 contrast, 0 saturation. 1/50 sec, F3.5, A28/F2 lens.

To see the noise, look at the crop of the image I posted (which looks almost the same as a zoom up of the original full size image on my computer). The other (top) image is for context only.

The noise I'm talking about is the mottling that can be seen on what should be a smooth even coloured background behind the doll.

All I am seeing is depth of field focus attributes and a colored background due to uneven lighting.

I don't think it's noise, it's just a little posterization which is something you get with basically all digital cameras in some circumstances.

Maybe, but it sure looks like noise to me.

Here is a crop of an iso 400 shot - the noise looks the same (but worse - as you'd expect) as the iso 100 shot.

.
+2 sharpness increases the apparent noise significantly over default sharpness (on my K20D and K-5). If that is +2 over the Bright default then I suggest a try with it at default.
