Awesome! I'm so excited about it, I've been wanting an SLR forever. I was so surprised about how well kept it was for the price too.
Great!

By the way, welcome to the forum.

I have the purple one and I love it. It is such a pretty shade, almost violet rather than straight purple. I think it is so fun to have options like that, thanks to Pentax! I sewed a strap cover of black and pink polka dot corduroy, it is a blast to take out shooting.

LOL Am I'm the second one.
Although some people say it's a bit tacky, I beg to differ.

I was intrigued by the non-black k-x choices, but in the end decided I didn't actually wanted to draw attention to my camera. In fact, I generally want people to forget that I have a camera.

ORANGE Arriving Wednesday! Add 1 RED Also...

Had an early RED and fell in love. Sold it for a lot of money and trade "UP" to a Canon T2i...NOT! T2i was designed by a plumber. Finally dumped it on eBay at a stupidly high price and was thinking RED K-r but, IMHO the images are better from the K-x...same sensor or not. Noticed ADORAMA is selling the weird colors for a shockingly low $459 with 18-55...Orange, Dodge Challenger Green and who will ever forget Datsun B-210 Blue. That green is really growing on me. ADVANTAGES? Concert shooting for sure. Stick in nose-down in a big pocket...Security says "you have a camera?" I say "yeah and it's RED," showing him the opening in my pocket. I wasn't stopped all Summer! Add to that, potential thieves see it and don't take it seriously.
BEIGE & CHOCOLATE are on sale NOW at QVC with 2 lenses and I think 4 or 5 Value Pays. Happy Shooting!

Check QVC.com. They have both Brown and Tan with 2 lenses and break it down to 4 or 5 payments.

Hey gorgeous! Good to see that. My orange will be here in 2 days. My RED was just starting to look a little run-of-the-mill to me. The orange looks even BETTER with you holding it! Looks like it's just you and me kid...for now.

My K-x was factory black and my K-r was factory black. Because they were the cheapest option available at the time and I bought both for taking pictures only, utilitarian grounds.
So really, I didn't make a fair colour choice, although I definitely would have liked to (all else being equal).

And let's face it, it is a psychological-rooted thing. So, is anybody willing to admit that aesthetics improves that capability for them? Like dressing up (if you get what I mean), does a coloured camera help spur photographic enthusiasm or inspiration for you?
Or, is/was the colour more an expression of rebellious or other strong preference, unrelated to function or usage of the instrument.

And for whatever reason; does that colour selection satisfaction last beyond the usual novelty stage first few months?

I bought my colored one because it was cheaper on Adorama, but I have to admit to liking the attention I had at the Detroit auto show yesterday.

One guy almost fell over himself trying to get a look at my camera

Since I am most certainly in the 'this is my hobby' camp, I don't really care how seriously people take me. I just want to have fun and become a better photographer.

Sorry I don't have one on hand here at the moment but do remember seeing a few thousand of them spread everywhere around the Internet.

HTH.
