K-x @ 3200 - It's amazing

Low Light , slow lens and tripod not an option -the only thing that could made this picture possible was amazing sensor of k-x and above. Was reviewing some recent pics, and noticed that I took it at 3200, amazed myself, how useful ISO 3200 is. A bit of NR in ACR and it's amazing - I can even take large print without any issue. I was thinking of getting K20D as an additional body but now rethinking again....

K-x + Tamron 70-300@133mm f4.5

and 100%

Nice shot yusuf! Nice to see a fellow Bangalorian here. I'm in Philly now, but spent a lot of time as a child in Malleswaram. Where are you?

My K20D wouldn't do well at ALL at this ISO. It's one of the reasons I'm saving for the K-5. As for you, rethinking the K20D is very wise; definitely consider the K-r or K-5 as your second body instead.

Sure, go to Details tab in ACR, noise reduction controls are there.

Yes I agree. Shooting RAW files and using the noise reduction in Lightroom 3 I get results I''m very pleased with. To me the images look much better than shooting jpegs with in camera noise reduction.

great shot! I picked up my K-x over a year ago and couldn't be happier by the high ISO performance. I definitely suggest in investing in some quality, fast glass and then save up for the K-5. I figure while doing that the K-5 price should drop some while lenses tend to hold their value much better than bodies. That's my plan at least.

I also love comparing shots with my friend's Nikon and Canon dSLRs that cost much more, but take worse pictures especially in conditions like the shot you took.

I rarely shoot higher than ISO 1600 but the times I do it never ceases to amaze me. Great high ISO capabilities in a <$500 camera.

Puppy Figure @ 3200

Shot at ISO 3200.... sure beats the crap out of the Fuji bridge camera I used to own at 800 ISO, using a manual 50mm M f 1.7 Pentax lens I bought used did a great job too, super prime lens!!!
