Shot another concert with my K200D and my KX. The K200D got most of the action because it performed better for some reason. Love the KX for high ISO!

The penta-mirror viewfinder in this cam is ewwies. I'd rather a K10D.

Actually it's not bad at all. Great camera. These shot s you see of Toby Keith were shot at ISO 1600 and pushed to ISO 3200 and I had no trouble with the viewfinder.

These are great shots from the k200 but I am curious about your statement about pushing the iso to 3200? ? And what lens were you using. Bit of a newbie and am wanting to learn. I have a k200 & k5 but still enjoy the k200 but low light sometimes let it down.

I miss it if i don´t have it with me... Here´s few from the "Old Market Square Carnival of Rovaniemi". Quite tight space, too crowdy, i was kinda hurry and i´m NOT very comfortable (shooting) within crowds.
Dragged my a** in there whatsoever...

I just thought I'd check and see if anyone else misses the K200D. I believe it's one of the poorly-received Pentax DSLRs, owing to a small buffer and pricing (if I recall correctly, we were all spoiled with the K10D back then).

Personally though, weather-sealing and AA batteries (with apologies to the Li-ion supporters ) for an entry-level model is pretty amazing. Pentax already has WR kit lenses, so I'm hoping they'd come around to release another entry-level DSLR with sealing. With the better rep Pentax is getting these days from mainstream media, maybe a new K200D would turn some heads and be a viable travel DSLR.

What do you think?
The K200D was a great entry level Pentax camera. it did the job and it did it well.
That being said, despite the slight change in sensor characteristics following my move to the K20D, I never really felt the need to look back. After which, the K-5 proved to be the same and so on and so forth until today. Where I continue to taunt myself with the idea of moving to into the MF territory. Not that I need it or anything, but more along the lines of a next logical step for someone in need of change.

Thank you - I used my DA* 16-50mm F2.8 and my DA* 50-135mm F2.8. Love those lenses.

To push the ISO, I shot at ISO 1600 which under exposed the shot by a stop and then brightened it to the correct exposure. That is call push processing. This CCD sensor can't take as much at the newer CMOS sensors but I think the color and the grain is better. For very high ISO then a K5 or K30 would be much better cameras.

Just to Brag a bit. My shot "Days End" will be featured on the cover and the month of July on ErieBank's 2014 calendar! ErieBank is a Hometown Bank in Erie, PA. This shot was taken off the beach at Presque Isle State Park in Erie. No compensation because it was a contest and the give their calendars away but it's still some good Bragging material!

I bought my K200D new back in 2008, replacing my *istDS which was a little underwhelming to me at the time. I remember bringing home the brochure on it and on on both it and the K20D and trying to decide on which to buy. The features I was excited about the most was the weather sealing, the dynamic range enhancement, and the optional battery grip. I can now say I rarely shoot in bad weather, and have never gotten any AW lenses. I find the D-Range enhancer rather skimpy, it only helps a little on highlights and doesn't affect shadows, I usually value being able to shoot at ISO 100 more than being able to use the D-Range. But I do use the battery grip, 100% of the time. It gives me a vertical button, and somewhere to put my pinky finger. I recently bought a nice silver FA43 1.9 LTD lens. This lens pulls in detail I still can't believe from this 10MP sensor. I'll put together a few from this combo and post soon. Love the FA Limiteds! Love the way the silver K200D looks, but mine is just black...
