I'd relegated my K200d to back up status, but brought it along for close ups of bears recently, and I'd forgotten how good it is!

The K200D was a great companion on many business travels ... here are a few shots

with the FA 1.8/77 limited in Changzhou/China

... I can't remember the lens, but this was shot in Shanghai Pudong, on the way to the Paulaner Biergarten at the Hangpu river

... Ginza, Tokyo

If you haven't done so in a while, check the focusing on your K200D! Now that I'm using AF lenses a bit more, I decided to check and I had to adjust the AF by a +30 as it was back focusing a bit.

If you don't know how to do it, this old thread should help: K200D autofocus fine tuning. - PentaxForums.com (except that the part about leaving the door open, in my opinion, is not needed).

Question: what would be the hard in leaving the camera in setup mode? I didn't do it but I wonder if someone accidentally did it, if it would affect anything other than showing additional set up options...

It's a long time since I used my K200. I remember I used it for a while in setup mode. You are right about the door, it must be open only for the lnitialissation. I can't remember any side effects of running it in setup mode permanently. Maybe there wss some difference in when the back display would show things automatically. But I am probably mixing this up with the K-5.

Plumbago and Spider Lilly, both with HD DA 21mm. I was trying going out with nothing but the 21mm but I think I missed having a 50mm lens instead...

The shot of the frog is especially nice, a combination of the depth of field and the earthy tones.

Huawei P9 with DNG support and Leica colours took over main shooting rig responsibilities, but sometimes I still play with K200D. I like K200D with embedded colour profile for skin tones in portraits. The most I miss is the HD 18-50, it had great chemistry with K200D. Unfortunately it found its end on concrete streets of Bergamo.

Something from the past.

I agree, the HD 18-50 just works so well with the K200D... I still don't get how the HD version is so much better than the SMC but I won't question it, I just enjoy it

I find that the output, in the shared range, is similar to the DA*16-50mm. At 21mm in some ways it's better than the HD DA 21 Limited (though the DA 21 has a bit more 3D pop for medium range subjects).

I have been posting quite a few pictures from the combo lately... here's some...
