I think the color settings out of the camera by default were very "Pentax like". For some reason I just can't say the same thing about my K-7 or K-5.
Last week I had to go back to using my K200D, as my K-5 was in Arizona having a new lens release button attached to it. I had a chance to use some lenses I have bought after getting K-5 for the first time on the K200D, lenses like the DA 15 and the FA 28-105/3.2-4.5. The K200D did produce better, more vivid, brighter colors in the raw files than the K-5. It was especially noticeable with the 28-105, a lens which the K200D seems to really mesh with well. With adjustments in Lightroom, you could probably get the two cameras two produce very similar color, but I suspect the K200D would always have a slight edge.

Although I've never had much interest in full-frame, an FF version of the K200D, with a comparable CCD sensor, only larger, would spark my interest. Of course, such a camera would be impossible, since I would be about the only person who would be interested it.

Nice shots!
Did you use Topaz Denoise on these by any chance?
No I did not use a anti-noise program upon these shots
I liked them as they are!

I had fallen pretty far behind on my image workflow over the last few months, but spend some time the last couple of days catching up. Here are some shots I finally got around to dealing with:

Mark, You music shots always seem to show a lot of emotion from the subjects. It makes me feel the emotion myself.

Here are a few of my latest.

I am certainly missing mine as I broke it recently. It fell about six feet in a camera bag and fractured the lcd screen, the display has no out put. It deserves it's place on my classic camera shelf.

OH NO! I'm very sorry for your loss. Maybe you can have the LCD display replaced?

I had a minor scare last week with my 200D which turned out to be an electronic glitch caused by low-juice batteries. All was made well with fresh batteries. I've been looking for an excuse to buy the K-5, but would hate to lose the K200D. It's a workhorse of a camera. Sturdy, weather resistant, solid, and capable. I LOVE that it runs on AA batteries, which was one of the reasons I bought this camera instead of a Canon. The other major reasons were the weather seals and the reasonable price. I don't like the idea of making a camera more bulky by adding a battery grip, since I carry my camera on cyclotour, where bulk looms large.

I wish Pentax would bring out a successor to the K200D, one with all the good features of this camera but with a better high ISO performance.

With all the recent attention on the K-30 that is *finally* going to provide a worthy K200D replacement, how about another round of love for the K200D? I'm in no hurry to retire mine, but it does make me happy to see there is a reasonably affordable camera I *could* upgrade to without feeling like was giving up something as well.

Same here Mark. No plans to retire my K200D either. Nice to know there is a decent replacement out there now.

Good to see the other K200Ds are still going. The big disappointment with the K30 is that there is no option for a battery grip, that rules it out in my book.

Jonathon,

Thanks for the comment above.

I might be getting the K30 but like you I love my K200d. Hate to sell it.

Recently I acquired my second K200D. My first one can do a bit more quietly, it has already about 33000 Clicks.....

+1, This is really an omission! I was curious if a grip would be available. Besides, the K30 looks more like a Sony DSLR, particulary the prism-house.

No, still stick to my K200D's.
Look at the nice sports-shots of keith!

The Spotmatic, the MX an' the K200D -- they do just it for me. I've accumulated four of 'em since I suspect they won't last as long as my film bodies. The feel, SR, AA batteries, WR and the CCD sensor do it -- I don't care for the Battery grip though.
