Thank you. When I saw it I was amazed that something could be so cool. In 1912 they used to go 100 mph to 120 mph (nearly 200 kph)

Here is a video of one.

and this is what they did

Cold weather K200D

I was asked to do a shoot for our band's CD - the picture they wanted to use originally didn't work out. I had just a few days so had to take what mother nature offered, which was temperatures down to 7 degrees F (-14 C) during late night / early morning times I had to shoot. I was expecting problems with batteries at the very least.

I had a set of Eneloops in the camera and kept a spare set of lithums in my pocket, but the K200D finished 4 hours in the cold with 3 bars still showing on the battery meter. Near the end, I think the exposure meter started drifting a bit - there was a layer of frost on the outside of the camera and I had changed lenses several times so not too surprising, I guess.

I just thought I'd check and see if anyone else misses the K200D. I believe it's one of the poorly-received Pentax DSLRs, owing to a small buffer and pricing (if I recall correctly, we were all spoiled with the K10D back then).

Personally though, weather-sealing and AA batteries (with apologies to the Li-ion supporters ) for an entry-level model is pretty amazing. Pentax already has WR kit lenses, so I'm hoping they'd come around to release another entry-level DSLR with sealing. With the better rep Pentax is getting these days from mainstream media, maybe a new K200D would turn some heads and be a viable travel DSLR.

What do you think?

Time to bump this thread again!

Some of my Vintage Hydroplane shots from Madison 2012. These were processed using HDR from a single RAW file in Corel Paintshop Pro X6.

Jan, that picture on the lake is cutting my eyeballs... what lens did you use for those photos?

I was busy taking photos with my cellphone when the K200D came out so I never really missed it.
I wanted to have a CCD sensor camera in my collection and recently picked one up in like new condition with only 4500 clicks on it...WITH a battery grip for $275.00. Well worth the small price to have this wonderful camera to use with my lens collection.

Thanks buddy, I used the DA* 16-50mm F2.8

Here's another one of the Space Shuttle cockpit with the DA 12-24mm F4 at ISO 1600 (handheld at 1/4 second)

Concert use with the DA* 50-135mm f2.8

Used a DA* 16-50mm F2.8 here

Wow. How well does the K200D perform in a weightless environment?
