Anyone else miss the K200D?

I used it for a weeding this year and it worked really nicely. Slow Af be we all know that anyway.

I've got a K200 and I see no need to replace it . It seems versatile and dependable.

Just today (!) I have processed some old files taken during an evening walk around Christmas 2010. I am not sure why I never looked at these before ...
If you don't need very high iso or don't need to print very large the camera still delivers great results, I think.

I 'inherited' a bunch of cameras when the buggy tour company I worked for was sold. At the time I was slogging away with Pratika 35mm Cameras and a bunch of lenses that took good photos but a bit too 'old school' for me and the hassle of film development was not what I wanted.
One of the cameras was the K200D, it had a switching on problem but apart from that was in good order, very dusty as it had been used in the wilds of Andalucia for action shots of the clients in the buggies. I sorted that out with a bit of tweaking of the brass fingers under the on/off button but I really need a new part.(anyone?)
I find most of the settings can be ignored and the camera run on auto everything and still gets excellent pictures. I still use a Sony Mavica CD400 for difficult shots in low light or pitch black as the laser matrix focus and exposure is awesome but so sloooow,
The K200D is great for snap shots, fast turn on and download means I can snap away with only a fraction between shots rather than having to wait a second or two to write to disc with the Sony,
I love it and with the std Pentax lens 18-55 AF and a Sigma 70-300 AF lens I am covered. I also have a external flash and a grip/battery extension with two sets of Sony Eneloop batteries as well as some generic accessories from the Pratika days like filters etc. Like my 1987 BMW e30 it was built well and made to last, I love it.

Buddy had a K200. Unfortunately it died right after the warranty period. Think the repair shop said it was the motherboard or something. Too expensive to repair. He bought a K-30 and so far after a couple of years...touch wood...still working fine.

All makes / models have the occasional lemon....these things happen...but while the K200 worked, it worked well.

Still using mine sometimes. CCD color and sensor's grain are sweet. After discovering HDR, I fell in love with K200D even more. Now it produces realistic photos without any drawbacks of an old sensor technology.

Well done. I hate cartoonish HDRs, these ones look perfect.

I haven't used my K200D since I got my K3 in late December, even though the latter has no Katzeye and so is hardar to focus manually.

elektrolitr, I use Photoshop's own "Merge to HDR Pro". After merging, I add medium contrast and a little bit of clarity. Nothing special

I have a k200d too but it stopped working. the battries are all time drain. i dont know why.

All the photographers use (nearly) the same equipment, the same programs and the same PP. But the results are so different! I can't imagine why

Yesterday I found a topic which describes that most battery-related problems on old AA-powered cameras are due to damaged capacitor in power input and connecting one more in parallel with batteries could help.

I don't have time just now to search, but I'll try to find it later.

I bought one from here, and am very pleased with it.

Here's one I shot from soon after I received it, sensor dust was a bit of a problem, but overall its just great, and I'm glad I have one again. Also, isn't it interesting the only time I have ever been "Explored" on Flickr, was for this shot, taken with the new old K200D. Fascinating.
