The K200D and the K10D and also the K-m (K2000) have the Sony 10mp sensor.

You mean the K-m? Hard to keep them all straight, I know...

Also, the K7 had the same sensor as the K20D - maybe that's what you were thinking of...?
Pentax claimed it was a newer, modified version of the sensor in the K20D but if I recall correctly the K7 sensor performed slightly worse than the one in the K20D.

Still, a lot of people liked it and I'm sure many of them still use their K20Ds.

If you check the stats for Pentax cameras in Flickr, the K200D is ranked 12th in uploads to the site, the K20D is 8th, so plenty of people are still using them. I was going to sell mine but I don't think I'll get back the money I spent on the Katzeye screen, not to mention the time and money for the thing-me-jigs to get the focus spot-on. I think I'll keep it and use it once in a while.

I just bought another one on the Fleabay so both daughters can get some experience with SLR photography. Or so I tell myself!

I recently acquired a K200D, here's a link to the story if anyone's interested:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/173-general-photography/333623-story-k200d.html

I got a grip for it yesterday and I've actually been preferring it over my K30 to be honest! It autofocuses perfectly with all of my dozen lenses even in low light, the ergonomics are outstanding, and even with the grip it doesn't take up too much more space or weigh too much more. Looks like a professional camera now! I like the top lcd and how simple the controls and menus are. And in low light iso 1600 is suprisingly usable as long as you get the exposure right! I don't think there's any other camera like it, since it seems to me like it was created as a budget level camera that has some features that you only see on pro/ flagship cameras. I won't be parting with mine anytime soon!

I have not used my old K200 for quite some time ... but played around with it today.
Here's one example from today.

Here' one I shot last May with 15mm Limited. Sold my 15 to help fund my purchase of a K1, and sometimes I wonder.....

Still have my K200D, though, and I am still patiently waiting for a full frame equivalent to that lens.

I have the K200D, it was my first DSLR after film and I also have the K7 which I bought because it would work with the 1.4x rear converter which of course I haven't bought yet. I actually prefer the K200D over the K7, I think that it's CCD sensor provides a nicer, perhaps smoother is a better word, image than the K7's.

An old shot from 2009 (I guess).
An FPSO in dry-dock in Hamburg harbour. The vessel was later renamed from "Maersk Curlew" to "Curlew FPSO".

x-posted from the "long lens club".
It was a real pleasure to go out shooting with the K200D and a MF Sigma 4.5/500.
