I started with K200D and 18-55mm kit lens. This was one of first landscape images I took with it. The CCD sensor gives better colors than modern K-1 body which after some tweaking comes close but not enough. Leica M9 is about the same.

I combined it with Photomatix trial back in 2008. Oh gosh. Funny thing I purchased it later and it was lifetime license which still works this very day. Not that I use it anymore.

That's a lovely shot. I sure do agree with your remarks about the CCD sensor. I've never been able to get better colours from my K5, I'm on my second K200D, but wish I had never sold the first.

There sure is some magic in CCD!

And again with Helios!

I recommend trying out Leica M9 should you have such possibility some day. It gives sparkling files particularly with Zeiss Biogons.

It was my first DSLR, took tons of great pics with it. Now I use a K5. But the K200D was a winner.

Hmm - I've got two near-mint K200d bodies that I still use, but I've always left them set on ISO 800.

Will have to play around with ISO 1600 for birds in low light.

Interestingly, one of the bodies is badged Pentax Corp, while the other hopped over into the Hoya Corp era.

Interesting. Is there any perceivable difference in build quality?

For some reason, on the earlier Pentax Corp model, I had to set the rear display lighting to a higher level to achieve the same brightness, when compared to the later Hoya Corp version.

Otherwise, it's the exact same camera in looks, feel, and operation.

Interesting, since i´ve been struggling with the display brightness at sunny days. Mine is Pentax Corp also, just can´t see a darn thing even at max brightness! All the schratches on the screen won´t make it easier, though

And autumn is knocking on the door!

Nice article. I'm on my second K200D too, but wish I had not sold the first. Still, its a good body, after a bit of servicing by the local camera store lads, and I like it. I really like CCD, which is why I rebought, and why I have hung onto a couple of older compacts (Olympus XZ-1, Ricoh GR Digital III) ...

I should go out and take some photos.

Love this photo! I have the K55 f/1.8 also but I have not used it with my K200D. Must correct that, soon.
