My cam is all screwed up too, because my wife wouldn't have sex with me last night.

What other reason can there be?

I'm a 54-year-old short Jewish guy with a beer belly, and as everyone knows, women find that irresistible.

So it HAS to be the firmware. (Or a front focusing problem.)
Other than you being slightly younger, basically same situation. Tried having the camera next to the bed, even read the Magic Lantern book before turning out the lights. No dice! Firmware problem seems to have migrated ...

You poor sod!
Get yourself Firmware version 69 from here: Sex Firmware

I've had mine for a year or so, and hasn't failed me a single time yet.

mikemike. Good one! My Kx has front AND back focus problems. It only shoots at exactly where I point it. What do I do?

Use a very large hammer, the pink Lithuanian ones work best. Beware of the blue ones, they are fakes.

Pentax AF is miles behind Canikon . My K-20D is the worst, it can't even focus when the cap is on , and Pentax needs to keep an eye on QC because some assembler might left a tool in my camera, it rattles inside .

There *is* a special tool inside, for you to perform periodic maintenance or repair on your K20. It's a small mallet - when your K20 becomes unresponsive, a few well-placed blows with the hammer will sometimes (not always) correct those issues. It will usually make you feel better, too.

Neither will mine. Not my M 200/4 either. Probably the whole M-series is affected.

I ran into another serious problem yesterday.. the camera wouldn't take pictures, because there was no memory card in the camera. There is nothing on the exterior of the box that says 'memory card not included." Surely there should be a warning, a sensor that checks when I walk out the door to remind me to go back to the computer and get my card if there is not one in the camera? I had to walk all the way back to the house from the front yard. I've had the same problem with every Pentax since the *ist. It's about time they did something about it.

After extensive googling I think it might be an issue with the SDM.

Yes. Altough i don't think these early versions is Sonic Driven. Just motors. May be a problem with the spark plugs.

I was just whispering to it "further" or "closer" to tell it where I wanted it to focus. If it isn't sonic how am I supposed to communicated with the motor?

I'm confused.
