K2000, is it supposed to make noise at startup? (solved)

My new to me K2000 makes 3 rapid "clunk" noises when I turn it on, is that normal?

Do you have it set to run a dust removal at startup? Try disabling that and see if it stops.

Yes, it's normal- that's the SR mechanism cleaning your sensor.

On the newer bodies with drII, it's practically inaudible, though (k5, k7, kr).

Aha, thanks - I thought it was intentional, but a new camera off eBay makes me worry LOL
