Yesterday, I ordered an Impact battery from B&H (20 bucks) along with some other stuff (including my Christmas present - DA70). Today, I noticed that B&H now has the Pentax battery in stock for $30 more. I've assumed that both batteries would be identical, coming off the same line - but that's not the case. They are built in different countries and the Pentax (1620 mAh) battery has different specs than the Impact one (1700 mAh).

I'm guessing that the Impact battery won't fry a K10D's brains. Anyone have experience with the Impact thus far into the short life of the K10D?

mAh (milliamp-hour) refers to a batteries capacity to retain a charge. The higher "mAh" rating simply indicates that, all other things being equal, the battery should last longer. The voltage (7.4 for the Pentax battery) is the critical factor in the area of power and potential to fry the camera.
