I think C.R.I.S. does a fine job, myself.

Doesn't everybody get the same warranty?
I mean the K7 is introduced in may 2009?
If everybody has the normal 2 year warranty there shouldn't be any k7 without warranty?

At least not for a few months?

Not in the US. Warranty is only one year.

I've had warranty repairs done on my K7 @ CRJ repair in Duluth, Ga. They seem to do a good job.

While once considering buying and diagnosing a broken camera, I got the following reply from C.R.I.S.:

Remove the battery and memory card. Send just the camera with a note describing the problem.
If you purchased the camera new in the last 12 months include a copy of your sales receipt.
Our service department address is:
Pentax Service Department
250 North 54th St.
Chandler, AZ 85226

If your camera is out of warranty, or the repair is not covered under the warranty, we will examine your camera and supply you with a written estimate (this estimate is provided at no charge). Upon approval (and payment in full) of the estimate, we will proceed with the repair. Approvals may be given by phone with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. If you decide against the repair estimate, your camera will be returned to you for a $12 shipping and handling charge.
