Pentaz Kx IR Conversion!

Hiya!

So yes I am a new member here and I was wondering if anyone with a Pentax K-x has converted it to IR as of yet. Since I am still in college I don't really have the 200-500 bucks to send it off to be professionally Converted for me.

I was wondering if anyone has done it themselves and has a toutorial so that I can do it myself. I was going to just take off the hot mirror and use lens filters to either block IR or block visible, or maybe try some UV work.

I hope somebody can help me.

From what I've read the older 6 MP cameras are good candidates for IR. The K100D or the ist DS would be better for this. The ist DL sells for cheap.

It certainly can be home spun. I would do an internet search on the subject. Doing it yourself though is not a cheap option from what I've read. You still need to put some sort of protective glass in front of the sensor from what I understand. Some do use a clear glass for that and then use IR filters of varying strengths for different effects. Good IR filters are also expensive, the cost of course, depends on size.
