Basketball Photos

Just upgraded from K100D to the K-X for the improved low-light performance I've been reading.

On the K100D, I've been able to get decent pictures with the ISO at 800 and running at f/2.8 using my DA 50-135 or Sigma 24-60 f/2.8 along with the EV + 1.1/3 and shutter at 150 - 200.

1600 was just too grainy on the K100D.

So, what are other folks using on the K-X for basketball type photos?

I'd like to take the shutter speed up a bit to reduce the incidence of motion blur. Is 3200 ISO running at f/3.2 along with shutter at 250 possible on the K-x?

Thanks.

I think that will depend on the lighting. You will just have to play with the setting and see what happens.

Here is a thread that asked a similar question:

BUT: I have the 50-135 but not the kx.

With the K5, I had to shoot at ISO 6400, often at f2.8 to really use 1/250 and often have used 1/500 to freeze the players. Along with using Noiseware, shots were decent. But the school gyms my kids play in have awful lighting. Sometimes you'd get to a school and some of the lights would be out or they would have more than one kind of lighting.

The K-X is very confortable in the 3200 zone.

"I shoot my daughter's games in TAv (1/400s & f/3.5) and let the camera set the ISO. "

Not bad [exposure] of pictures that were posted from that quote. I couldn't see the EXIF data or if EV was adjusted any.

3200 is OK if you expose well and better if you denoise. 1600 is clean as.
