K100DS+WR twin kits lens??

Hi,
Just wondering anyone use this combination before? Do you need to fine tune the AF in your K100DS to suit them? Please advice.
Regards,
Tommy

Why do you think that you would have to finetune AF ?

There is a chance that you might have to finetune, but that chance is just as big as with the original kit lens (or any other lens). And there is just as much chance that you have to finetune AF for those lenses on a K5.

I have a K100D with 18-55AL-II and DA55-300 (I know, not the same lenses as the ones ypu mention) and have not found that AF finetuning was necessary.

I got a K5 with 18-55mm WR and 50-200mm WR. So my K100DS body is in my camera bag. Just wish to know whether these 2 lenses can fit into my K100DS or not?

There is no reason why they would be fully functional. You must just try them; you will find out if they need focus adjustments or not.

You can't do focus adjustments on the K100DS. You need to send it in to Pentax to have them adjusted.

Yes, those lenses will work with that body.

So there is no option to get into the 'debug' menu with the K100DS ?

Supposedly there is (and Pentax can do it), but every method I've tried doesn't work.

Pentax is not like Canon or Nikon, where you need to worry about whether or not a lens may work. A lens being weather resistant (WR) does not interfere with it being able to mount on a camera body. They will fit, along with any other lens Pentax has ever made - be it K mount or M42 mount (from circa pre 1975 - with an adapter ring).

enjoy.....

I'm agreeing with all above who have said "no problem". I've tried dozens of lenses on my K100dS with no problems in focusing at all. After I bought that aftermarket DiCain shutter grip, the camera body was MUCH easier to hold and makes lens changes way quicker.
I know it was panned by the CanKon crowd, but I still use my K100dS all the time, it really is a good little camera. And with over 16k shutter trips, it still works good as new.

Now my K100DS is in the box again. I tried to adjust the AF fine adjustment myself, but it only allow global adjustment. So, cant really use it with my 18-55WR and 50-200WR together in the sense of focusing, not compatibility. I also hope my K100DS can always sit in my camera bag with my K5.

Agreed it sounds like a bit of work. Specifically to remember to do it each time when you swap lenses.

The only other option is, as alohadave indicated, to send camera and lenses to Pentax. They can do it for each lens individual (I think up to 6 lenses, but might be less)

I dont undersand what you say now compared to your initial post.

Everybody said that the lenses you mentionned would work with the K100DS.
It seems you didnt try or you were supposing something about AF.

then, you say it's not working because of some AF adjustment...

I mean, if you have some finetuning to do with you K100DS, it is either
- because of o the K100DS (but you had this problem with all your lenses used on it)
- or because of one of this lens (but this lens should have the same problem with all pentax slr).

so I still dont understand why it sounds like theses WR lenses couldnt work properly on a k100DS, there's nothing logic here
