Help! Which Adapter for Vivitar Manual Focus Lens

I have been given an absolutely mint Vivitar 35-105mm f3.2-4 lens, serial number 77200890. On the rear of the lens, it says P/K. It has a great screw-on hood. I can't seem to turn up any information on it, except that it was bought for a Pentax camera years ago. It doesn't seem to want to go on my K-r, and I didn't want to force it. Do I need an adapter? If so, can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Is it possible to post a picture of the mount? The 77 indicates that it was manufactured by Kobori.

No need to post a picture.

eBay Guides - kobori vivitar mod to fit digital pentax

The long flange protecting the aperture actuator is preventing it from mounting. It hits the SDM connector. I have a Kobori made 28-200 that was the same way. The black ring with the flange should have 2 tiny screws. Remove the ring, dremel off most of the flange and screw the ring back on.

Thanks so much! I'm retired so have more time than sense, and I'm pretty handy with a Dremel tool from my stint with building miniatures, so I think I can do it. In the meantime, this lens has been sitting a looooong time, and I notice the aperture doesn't close down. Is this something I can fix? Or have fixed? He's a wonderful person, and I really want to use the lens regardless of how impractical it might be to get it fixed.

Could be oil on the blades. Could be lack of use. Set it to f/22 and push the aperture lever back and forth. Sometimes that loosens the blades up. If the blades are still sluggish they would have to be cleaned.

I "had" the same issue with a Vivitar 80-200 constant F4. The lens was mint and I didn't want to take a dremel to the long "ear" so I removed the flange and put it and the screws in a ziploc bag and I use the lens without the flange installed. I just take extra care when mounting and dismounting as to not bump or damage the aperture arm. Good luck with it.

Take the flange thing off of the lens before you grind it down. Just three little screws.
