I have tried to search the forum , but I would really like to know ......
what lens do you keep on your camera , (most of the time).
I have the pentax 18-55mm kit, tamron 70-300mm (both F4.0) and a smc pentax 35-70 from my slr.
I want a sharper all around lens, and was hoping you all could help.
I love macros , my kids soccer, and just taking everyday shots. I'm not taking portraits, or any other business type photos... hope this info will help.

I'm using a Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.5 for my everyday lens. It close-focuses to take macro-type shots, and its sharpness seems fine stepped down a bit. My only real neg about it (besides the price) is that it doesn't have a lot of zoom range-I'd love if its upper range was 85mm or more, but then there'd be a trade-off in sharpness, I'd imagine.

Right now, I'm enjoying a Sigma 17-70 I just got in the mail about two weeks ago. It has just dethroned a Sigma 28-200 I've used since I got the K100Dcamera body.

I got the 17-70 because I alway found myself wanting just a little more FOV when using the 28-200. I guess I favor the wide side of these lenses. I agree that it's not a bargain basement lens, but it's cheaper than others in the same classification. Excellent images stopped down, pretty fast wide open and truly the best macro capability I've ever used.

When I want to play old-school, I'll strap on a SMC M 28mm 2.8. It has fabulous contrast and sharpness ... but I'm doing more with HDR, and a modern lens is almost a must-have to make HDR programs work well.

Tamron 28-75 f2.8 Di. Fast, sharp with decent close focus (they call it macro) at 1:3.9. Very good lens that i like a lot. But the primes are never far from reach and the most used are 20mm, 43mm 77mm. The Bigma (Sigma 50-500) is always with me on a photo 'quest' as the focal range and picture quality are great. But the Tamron takes 35-40% of my shots these days. You could have that lens and a decent 2x converter with you for a longer shot and have a fairly broad range for a reasonable price.

K100D will be good with most lenses on in
but talking sharper, maybe DA 16-45, Sigma 17-17, DA* 16-50, but I think they would lack the reach if you are on football, so maybe Tamron 28-75 f2.8 (apparently excellent lens) Sigma has 24-60 or 24- 70 f2.8 but I don't know how do they compare with tamron...

i use mostly my Tokina AT-X 80-200 F2.8 MF on mine

with the F2.8 and the ASA 3200 it makes a good night time cobnation

I used to keep the Sigma 18-50 on it, but lately it is what ever I used last. I am more likely now to pick a particular lens or two to take to an event rather than the whole big bag. Don't really need the fisheye at an airshow, for instance, or the 70-300 in a museum.

Edit: Well, I took my fisheye to an airshow and got some great shots (mostly static display shots, but one flying grab shot as well.) The 70-300 in a museum still may apply...
