will try this tomorrow and see what comes up. if it IS the viewfinder - what are my options? ive never seen this in any other shots ive taken so...maybe just avoid the use of the IR filter entirely? :/ will post results asap - hoping to get this 'fixed'!!

Where a hat. When you go to take your picture, put the hat over the camera covering the viewfinder (but not the lens ).

is there a viewfinder cover for the k20 like the one for the k7 ?

happy to report that covering the camera up with a cloth worked perfectly. and yes - i do have the viewfinder cover and used it as well. works like a charm! thanks all!!

Looking at your before image, the image looks way too bright red which most likely means that your WB is off. It's fine if you convert to monochrome but if you did a channel swop, the resultant image is not going to to be close to a typical IR shot. Suggest you take a custom WB reading by filling the viewfinder off some leaves or grass under direct sun.

i agree i need to WB test but are does this one seem 'better' than the brighter shot? thanks!
