Just shipped my K7 off to Pentax for it 4th warranty repair in 13 months.

Brother! I would not like to see the dings in your car doors and chipped dinner sets.

I would be worried that that camera will just explode sometime.

Do you have a trusty film body as a backup?

Nope! I have a back up K7 which has also been in for repair.

I've been using Pentax Gear for over 35 years and never had a problem until I bought my first K7.

After e-dial failures twice, I bought a back up k7 with an extended warranty.

the "new" one, has had both e-dials fail. Wasn't calibrated correctly. It underexposed by at least 2 stops and now it's going back for a second rear e-dial failure.

My car doors look pretty good. So far!

Yes, this must happen too - that some people will benefit from extended warranty. Can't be avoided. It's a matter of statistics.
