Shimming the screen

Hi.

Since installing a split screen in my K100D, I've noticed the focusing's a little off. I ordered a set of shims from Pentax, and I'm going to adjust it myself.

Here's a shot of a focus test chart taken with a Pentax-M 50mm f:1.7:

So, the finished shot is focused about 1/2" in front of where it should be according to the screen. (The point of focus is the center line.)

The question is: Should I try a thinner or thicker shim than the one that's in there now to correct the error?

Thanks,
Bob :-)

I got this from Rachel Katz in regard to my Katz-Eye screen for my K-7, which will also need to be shimmed into position:

The 0.40mm seems to be the default factory size and it is common for a
thinner shim to be required. They are quite inexpensive though, so it would
not be unreasonable to simply order one of each. Thinner shims will move
the indicated point of focus closer to the camera (correction for front
focus) and thicker shims move the indicated point of focus away from the
camera (correction for back focus).
