k200d image capacity read-out problem

Have been using a 4Gb Sandisk sdhc card in my K200d
- for the level of image quality etc I have chosen (jpeg only), image capacity with this card is around 800 both per the top display and in actual use.

Just bought an 8Gb Lexar Class 10 sdhc - I am puzzled that the the top display of the K200d indicates only a capacity of 999 images for this card (no change to previous settings).

Do I need to adjust something via the menu....?

Advice would be appreciated.

I'm assuming that the K200D operates in a similar fashion to the K100D Super in which case 999 is the maximum readout, and will stay at 999 until you drop below that figure. You can always view how many shots are left by going through the Menu, Rec.Mode, scroll down to Recorded Pixels, and against each value the No. of Recordable Images will be dispayed. Not as convenient as looking at the top display which is one of the reasons I stick to 2GB cards in the K100DS.

Either the camera is limited to 999 shots or the display is limited to 999. Take a pic or two & see if the number decreases.

I only use 4gb cards in my K200D & I almost always shoot RAW + jpg, so I´ve never seen this problem.

999 is the maximum that the top display can show
The camera itself is not limited to 999 shots.
Shoot a few pictures and you will notice that the 999 count will not go down, not until you shoot a few hundred pictures anyway.

If you look closely at the top LCD, you should be able to notice that it only has the resolution for 3 numeric characters

I thank you both, kenbrown 53 and Jonathan Mac - much appreciated and helpful.
The Menu/Rec mode/Rec Pixels indicates 1627 images possible for the unused card.
This fell to 1626 when I took the first picture, but the top read-out remained at 999.
So, it will stay on that number until I have less than 999 to go!
Thanks again for reducing my worry level!
