look in the custom menu, using aperture ring, set it to enabled. Should be good to go then !

I guess this is not possible with the K100D ? (specially since the kitlens doesn't have an aperture ring, but maybe with older/other lenses).

The use of the Aperture ring function is available for both the K10D, K100D and K100D Super in the custom menu. Just set it to enable.

oh yes it is, as creampuff noted. It's the same as for K10D you set using apperture ring as permited in custom menu and there you go....
That's one of the reasons why they are all still compatible with old glass no matter how new and good bodies they are

Hmm, guess I will need to check again then.

I looked before posting but I didn't see it there (at least not as the last or 2nd last option).

It is there, trust me, I just don't remember where exactly and I'm too lazy to get my camera out of the bag. But I'm sure it's in custom menu... Otherwise I wouldn't be able to use my Hoya lens

All of the digital Pentax bodies have this menu option. My DS certainly does. That is the primary reason I finally "upgraded" to digital from my 30-year old MX. Was able to use all my old lenses.
