Eneloops are good, as are the Rayovac hybrids. Both are regular batteries that do not loose their charge when sitting idle.

I am using powerBase 2700 mAh rechargeable batteries came with an LCD rapid charger, They're very good, just make sure your firmware ver is 1.01 or 1.02 and your battery type is selected as Ni-MH in camera when using rechargeable batteries.

Turn the camera on while holding the MENU button down.

That is old (original) firmware and has the battery level inaccuracy issue. You need to update it to at least 1.01 or 1.02.
Digital Cameras and Accessories - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site

Please note: If the upgrade process is disrupted somehow (batteries die) the camera may become unusable. If this happens you will have to send your camera to Pentax and pay for it!

Follow the instructions very carefully! Use new lithium batteries out of the package. Do not use regular Alkaline or even rechargeable NiMH for the upgrade.

Good Luck!

Sry for the late answer!
but thanks to others, they fully answered you.
just for upgrading, format the your memory card, put the bin file in it, press menu button while turning your camera on ! and everything will be completed in less than 3 mins.
just as others said make sure you use a set of full charged batteries.
after completing the installation turn off your cam, delete the bin file and enjoy your cam
good luck

FYI this isn't a troubleshooting question. Moving this to the DSLR section.

dmfw,
I used to have the same problem. I solved it by using the rejuvenation feature of my charger...I don't know if they are "like new" but for sure they are much better than without the rejuvenation

Wow, Eneloop, eh? Yall have given me something to google. I have just been using lithiums - get thousands of shots from a set and have managed to snag them on sale with coupons. The rechargeables just don't seem to last long enough to mess around with charging all the time. I'm going to look into Eneloop. They a rechargeable? Thanks!
