Adapter for K-x to Jupiter-9

I have a Jupiter-9 85mm en route and was wondering if anyone knew of a quality lens mount adapter to mate it to my K-x... I've heard all sorts of problem stories with these adapters so I'd like to make sure I get a quality adapter. Thanks!

Why not let the group know the answer to this question - I assume you are talking about M42 (screwmount)?

I think this lens can be in M39 or M42 mount. Can you post your impressions of the lens with K-x? I also have K-x and thinking of getting one as portrait lens.

Quick question(maybe relevant).

Are you planning on using your J-9 as a portrait lens exclusively?
If so.. you may do yourself a favor by avoiding all the clap-trap adapter issues and opt for a stainless steel flange adapter:

And here are a few of the benefits I've encountered with these;

1. Simple and safe tool'less operation
2. Functional catch-in focus
3. Allows closer focusing than normal for portrait work

Granted there are variances between models, and I've measures a number of material thicknesses between makers. However, for those of us who use vintage glass for portrait or studio work, I've found the benefits of these adapters to be very positive in contrast to the usual sleeve style Pentax and 3/rd party adapters.

Hope this helps.

That's a really nice way to put "you lose infinity focus"

I suppose so, then again, I doubt infinity focus is ever an issue with a portrait lens. And of course where most J-9's really don't get much attention with such types of photography.

My take on this is quite simple.
I have my all around lenses. Then my landscape lenses and finally my studio lenses. And since the J-9 is a studio lens for most shooters, I think the benefits of the flange adapter, far outweigh the loss of infinity focus

Or as icywarm said, twist harder
