Colourful cameras?

Sorry if this has already been discussed...

Is it me, or is Canon now getting into the whole multi-coloured DSLR thing? Or have they been doing this a long time? If not, it seems Pentax has started quite a trend...

Canon EOS 1100D is available in grey, red, black and brown.

I dont tink Pentax was the first to do this with modern cameras, but the first for digital SLR’s I believe. so its hard to say if canon is following Pentax’s or someone elses idea, but its safe to say that when people think of colorful cameras they think Pentax. as a side note, im american (US) and I have always spelled it ‘colourful’.

Those colored Canon's look pretty ugly if I do say so myself... Why would they choose Gray and Brown?

simple colours that stand out, but also blend in with the rest of your attire without having to resort to flashy colours. this is of course all about a fashion statement, and usually more subtle but different is more fashionable that obviously flashy.

Gotta say I like that brown. At least it doesn't have a suspicious bear face on it.

I love my white K-X and I don't think I'll ever sell it (might replace it, but I'll keep it). However, my next camera will be black just because it looks better with black lenses.

mmmm, those colours are pretty bland. Why have them at all?

IMO if you want a splash of colour, go vibrant or stick with the standard.

I think that those colour choices will have a lukewarm reception.

Well, I *like* grey and brown. (Of course, if you *do* like grey and brown you tend to be picky about the tone and shade, so that could be hard to market to, and chances are with me that basic black's the answer. People who like bright colors tend to like *lots* of bright colors. ) but I do find it pretty amusing that a lot of 'Canon's for pros!' fanboys were mocking Pentax for even making colored cameras, now probably hemmng and hawing somewhere about this development.

I suspect Canon's trying to retain some dignity there, though, ...that metallic brown does look nice for a gent, anyway.

Contax was the first to offer a SLR body (the RX) in a variety of colors.
