Maybe I don't follow, is it broken? Why wouldn't you get it for $50? If nothing else sell for 10x more...

Hah I didn't mean to sound completely stupid I just wasn't sure... Also it turns out to be a K10d does that change things?

I just didn't know if it would be such an old model as to not be worth it... thanks alot for the responses! And let me know what ya'll think of the K10d.

We are trying to help but certain elements of your post sort of bring us to ridicule.
Just for a moment, reason with yourself why someone might sell something of great value for very, very little money?
Why might someone sell a car, for instance, that would be worth $1000 to most people for only $100?
A short scan of K20 cameras for sale in the forum Marketplace or in the sold archives of the Marketplace should give you a pretty good idea of the value of a K20 in reasonable condition and indeed what "reasonable condition" might be.

How well do you know the person that hopes to sell you this camera?
If this is from Craigslist, be very suspicious. Most of us assume the thing does not work at all for that price but even $50 for a non working K20 is pretty unbelievable.

no, being a K10 doesn’t really change anything as both of them are worth even used far more than the odd asking price.

$50 for a non working K10 d is a surprise even. I would test thoroughly and if it isn't coming with manuals or the original accessories /cd I would also assume stolen

Like I said I don't mean to sound stupid. I didn't think search for a 2006 camera in the market would yield many results. The "story" on this thing is a friend gave it to him but he is not into photography and isn't sure of the worth. I am the one who offered 50 expecting him to ask for more or reveal more about the condition.

Again it's a K10d not a K20d (I mistyped when creating the thread). I'm a still pretty noobish when it comes to all of this... if you need help rooting, ROMing and hacking your Android device I can help you there though

Edit: The CL post claims to include original documentation and box but no battery

So your friend received the camera (worth $900 when released - $300 now, used) as a gift, a present and has no use for it. You suggest to your friend that you will give him $50 for the camera. Correct?
Do you like this friend?
If the camera still works well with no major issues, if I was friends enough with this guy...

Disregard my previous post since we now know it is a listing on Craigslist.
Ask the guy if he will meet you with the camera at your favorite local camera store. They might be able to help you look it over but I am sure you will not get this for $50.

I just bought a K10D for $275 and have been quite happy with it. I've also taken some macros that look great.

$50 for a K10D is a steal if it's working: I'd try to find a battery (K20D batteries are compatible) to test it out.

No way I'd let one go for $50....

batteries are easy to get, tough to check out if it works without one though. a decent k10 still goes for $300 or so YMMV. batteries are cheap on ebay replacement chargers as well. no battery and charger still makes me think stolen.
if it needs any major repairs not worth the $50, minor repairs and you could still come out ahead and have a durable tank of a camera that isn't great at hi iso but is still one of the best at low iso and is a great camera to use (i love mine, but i love my k7 more)
