Anyone looking for a K-x kit with the 55-300?

This sell on Amazon is selling for $552 plus ~$10 shipping. I am tempted, but I just got a k-5 and got rid of my k-r, so it wouldn't make sense.

No, that's not me selling it.

Amazon.com: Used and New: Pentax K-x 12.4 MP Digital SLR with 2.7-inch LCD and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL and 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED Lenses (Black)

That's a good price, but I'd only buy something like this if there was a return policy like Amazon itself has, and the seller here isn't Amazon itself. The odds just aren't that good that you won't have problems with at least of the items. The best deals on new KX kits have been gone for a few months now - and Amazon itself did have some very tempting deals on them.

well, don't know about you, but I've always had pretty good luck (probably better than I deserve) buying used cameras. This one is supposedly like new too...even the Amazon warehouse deals are duds sometimes.

There was the $1110 returned k-5 that was listed as like new that actually had a stained sensor. I tried to buy that camera too but the other forum member beat me to it.

That was my point: that even the Amazon new equipment is fairly likely to be defective, so I was only suggesting that being able to return equipment is very important. We know that with new equipment and certain known retailers you can. With other sources, you have to investigate the return policies carefully before you buy.

Incidentally it's not so much dishonesty I'd be worried about, it's that most sellers don't thoroughly test equipment before they sell it, either private owners or businesses. Basically they are giving you information about cosmetic condition, and certainly aren't able to evaluate any focusing or centering or other slight anomalies that some of us might object to in either new or used equipment.

I want to commend Amazon for their return policy - I bought a DA 55-300mm lens from them 2 weeks ago and it jammed up a week later - the focus ring was stuck. There is another one on its way as I write and they refunded my return postage. I hope that the replacement doesn't have a mechnical problem - first time I've heard of such a problem and it happens to me!
