Oh, my poor camera

My K10D took a fall today, landing on a wooden floor (uncarpeted) from a height of about 2 to 3 feet.

It seemed okay. I was going shooting, and I looked briefly at it and went out.

When I took my first photo - that's when the trouble began. I couldn't focus. The viewfinder kept giving me an out-of-focus image.

Finally, I just tried taking the shot anyway. And it was in focus.

Whatever the problem is, it's not in the lens. I just focused as well as I could, took the shots, and they were fine, except a few with a short focal length. When I stopped down, they were much better. Eventually, I noticed that the green digital readout at the bottom of the view screen was also blurry.

I'm going to take it in for repair, unless someone has had a similar problem and knows what to do with it. Anyone?

Adjust the diopter setting (slider above the viewfinder).

I've dropped my K10 several times, the last time 3 feet on to tile. Camera's been fine but the kit lens suffered. You should be fine.

Yup, diopter adjustment is needed.

Yup, it was!

Thanks so much. I was going through withdrawal already. And the fear that something serious might have happened. What a relief!

Oh my goodness!! I'm sure glad that your K10D is ok!!! My husband has one and just loves it. I know that I'd be sick if I dropped a camera. Because of this fear, my camera immediately goes around my neck when I take it out of the bag and stays there until I'm standing over the bag to put it away.

Quite a number of years ago, my husband dropped a Konica C35. Sadly, it jarred the lens at an angle and it needed a repair shop to fix it. It was the only damage and it worked well once the lens was unjammed. And that is the extent of our "camera accidents".
