To IR convert or not? And if so which one?

I am looking for real life experience from Pentaxians.
Should I convert my *ist D to IR and more importantly to what. Full Spectrum or a specific range (I am thinking 720nm) I love B+W IR but also enjoy faux color IR.
What is the difference between full spectrum and a specific wavelength in a practical sense.... More filters with full spectrum?
Any examples? Any experience.
Much obliged.

My IR K20d is a 720.

K20d Infrared - a set on Flickr

Some people say (and do) have a clear glass put in place of the AA filter so you can use any strength IR filter on the lens. I thought about doing that myself but my issue with that is A, the expense of the filters and B, needing different sized filters for various lenses and C, you cannot see through them. With the IR filter on the Sensor, it behaves just as any other camera would.

More info

Look in the "Which body for IR conversion?" thread a bit further down for more opinions. Then look at "Hawaiianonline's" examples and be inspired!

I converted a P&S to wide spectrum. I've never found anything of interest in the UV.

If you might want to use the camera for "normal" visible range photography then convert to wide spectrum and buy hot mirror and R72 filters for the front of the lens. If you'll use multiple lenses buy filters for the widest lens and step-up adapters for the other lenses.

Hi, I bought a K110 and are using a 720 ir filter, haven't changed the camera and it works fine, but I can't se anything in the viewer, so have to gues what I gets on the picture. Autofocus is working ok. Convert the picture to black and white on PC.
