Pentax K-X NiMH Battery Recommendations

Any recommendations on rechargeable AA batteries for Pentax K-X? What is your favorite brand and why? Who has the best deals on them?

Should I buy the charger that comes with the eneloop batteries? I have a 4 year old charger made by Kodak which is in good condition (seems to be well made). It takes 8 hours to charge with the Kodak wall charger. I don't know how many hours it takes with the charger that comes with the Sanyo Eneloop batteries.

Gold Peak GP batteries are best. I think AA 2300mah or 2700mah.

It's better if you can use the charger that comes with the Eneloops, as it will be rated to the same mah and make sure the batteries are charged at the correct pace. Other chargers may overheat the Eneloops and shorten its life.

Also, make sure you update the firmware right after purchase. The newest firmware fixes issues with using Ni-MH batteries and the low battery indicator.

PS: LOL at Ubuntu_loser.

I bought the charger with 4 batteries, and then a pack of 8 batteries, and then later another pack of 8 batteries. The Eneloops work great in everything. I think it takes much less than 8 hours to charge mine, but I don't usually wait until they are completely dead before charging.

Charger!!!!

While batteries are important, battery chargers are equally if not more important. I bought my batteries through costco and samsclub for about for $20 or so per 8AA+2AAA. I think they are energizers. I got my La Crosse Technology BC-700 charger and Powerex brand charger from Neweggs and Amazon. These smart chargers allow batteries to be charged individually and using different voltage. It not only prolongs battery life and but also makes every battery properly charged.

my two cents...

I personally use the Duracell rechargeables with charger or the energizer rechargeable. They are both heavy so you know that their is lots of element in there. They last a long time.

Be very careful when selecting a charger. There are reports of fires - try googling "charger meltdown" (you in particular, yyyzzz!).

Oh, no need to feel sorry. I was just commenting that it seems like this question is asked a lot. But you know, I've probably asked it myself!!

Tried Sony, Renovac rechargeable AA, not as good as Eneloop.
I use the 'quick charger' come with Sony AAs, and 'refresh' them periodically using La Crosse charger.

Eneloop last the longest in my K200 for days.
