K-x Shutter Count.100.000?

Is it really if K-x can only shoot for 100.000 times?
Has anyone knows about it?
Sorry if it's re-post

The K-x or any Pentax DSLR is supposed to be able to fire 100,000 shutters before it breaks down. This is a known fact.

Okay. It means, it is general fact for all Pentax DSLR or maybe for other DSLR

So if we use video mode, the shutter will breaks down faster just like if we use continuous shoot. Is it correct?

No. The shutter is not used for video. In all actuality, the shutter may last longer than 100,000 times, but the kx is an electronic device and there is something else likely to break before you get there.

If you take 10,000 still photos a year, it would take you ten years to get to 100,000 photos. The odds of the camera working in ten years aren't really good though, even the shutter was fine. Some other connection will come loose or the shutter button will need to be replaced, or something else.

I guess what I am saying is don't worry about the 100,00 actuation number. It is meaningless to most photographers in the real world.

The 100,000 number is the rated lifespan of the shutter mechanism. That does not mean that it will die on 100,001 actuations. It means that on average, it will last 100,000 actuations. It may last longer than that, and it may die before that.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry either. I've been shooting like crazy on my K-x, and after a year I'm just past 20,000. I doubt the average user will ever reach 100,000 before they upgrade the camera or something else happens to it (falls in swimming pool, gets run over, peed on by family dog, etc).

I wouldn't worry about the shutter actuation. As mention before it is for more likely that something other than that will break before you reach that problem. Or more likely you buy a new SLR before that time. Even used I've read that people are buying cameras with 60K and still aren't extremely worried about it. For a hobbyist I would not expect to reach the number anytime soon.
