HELP-This is weird

Ok,

Let me start off by saying that there is probably a simple
explanation for this but I tried and I don't know.

I have just become a full time RAW shooter.
My brother used the camera so I put it in JPEG.

I just built a cool Marco Studio from Strobist
anyway I went into the menu and the option for
RAW is not there anymore

I thought maybe it was because of auto pict
but it wasn't.

Some help please soooon...

The raw selection option is on page 2 of the Rec. Mode menus. The menu is named File Format.

The JPEG options are on page 1 of the Rec. Mode menus, which may be why you're confused.

Sorry, I'm usually more careful than that. Didn't notice that you didn't say what camera you've got and I mistakenly assumed it was a K10D.

Well, if I recall correctly, the raw vs jpeg option on the K100D is also in the Rec. Mode menus. Although gosh, I could swear there was more than one page in the Rec Mode menu even in the K100D. There is even on my *ist DS.

On the *ist DS, the jpeg vs raw option is set on the first page of the Rec Menu options, in a menu titled "Quality Level". The options there are

RAW

If you don't see something like that, what DO you see among the options in the Rec Mode menus? You know how to get into the menus, right? Hit the Menu button on the back of the camera. The Rec Mode menu should be the first one to appear.

Your right about that Andreas

Hit Menu, and it's the third selection down.

I couldn't find it shortly after I got my camera as well.

Tell me what your basic camera settings are at this time.
I shoot mostly in JPG node anyways, so I'll try and duplicate it and see what happens.

I tried every mode imaginable, and it was always there

The only thing that I can think which might make a difference is I have a full Manual lens on.
But it's highly unlikely that this could make any real difference

Try taking out the batteries for the night, and plug them back in in the morning.
It might just re-set it's self

If it doesn't it's time to contact Pentax.
I don't know if they have a customer help line.

Edit, if it works can you please post a photo of your Marco Studio.
I'm 1/2 thinking of making a light box or something else along those lines, and your setup might be just the ticket.

I Am So Sorry Everybody Thank You For Your Help
I Should Think A Lot Harder Next Time Before Posting And
Getting All Worried. I Was Looking At The Recorded Pixels
Instead Of Quality Level. Please Forgive Me.
And I Will Always Look 2,000 Times Before Posting Again.
The Weirdest Part Is I Was Writing I Could See

I wouldn't worry about it NY,

I don't think that there's a single person here who hasn't done the same sort of thing from time to time

Hello NYpH from Brooklyn,

Don't worry about the mistake, Pentax menus are a bit confusing. I still have to read the book occasionally. Like when I bought a used 2x converter that does not pass the electrical contacts through from lens to camera. To use that I needed, "FI with S lens used." Not exactly intuitive since I don't own a Screw mount lens!

I was in your City this week for the Halloween Parade, have you ever seen it? Fifty Thousand marchers, mostly in dazzleing costume, Two Million attending. Alas, I can't post the photos here - I used my travel camera: a Fuji S-5200.

We were in Brooklyn a few months ago to photograph the Marine Parkway Bridge (with K100Ds) and found out the Tribourough Bridge and Tunnel Association bans photographs on ALL their bridges in the City. We didn't know that when we photographed the very photogenic Brooklyn and Queensboro Bridges! There were a lot of tourists taking pictures on the Brooklyn Bridge, all unknowingly breaking the TB&TA regulations. We plan to stick to Connecticut bridges for awhile.

I'm glad your problem is solved. As far as missing the item in the menu, fugetaboutit!
