Pentax Model Number Pattern

Just wondering - any pattern in Pentax model numbering.

k100D -> K200D -> but not K300D
-> K10D -> K20D -> but no K30D
-> k-7 -> k-5
-> k-x -> k-x

and guess on what would be the next model?

Another way to end up in legal trouble is to combine a K-9 with K-Y.

Blast you! You beat me to it!

But if PenHoya naming wonks run out of other combinations, we may eventually see K-101, K-RAP, K-NU, K-VORT, etc.

At least we don't have to deal with the unpronounceable-in-any-language *ist stuff any more.

K3 for the upper end, and for the entry level, I doubt they'll go with the K2, probably M-x (The entry levels are re-using old camera body names).

Well, I'm on the road and off the market for a couple months, so you have a great window of opportunity now. And when I get back home, I'll be selling a bunch of cheap crap, er I mean fine inexpensive lenses. Yeah, a couple Takumar Bayonets, and some M50/2's, and some Rokinon's, maybe some Hanimex's and Makinon's and Accura's and Cintar's, as well as my leftover Minolta stuff.

ObTopic: Camera-makers are insane. Too many of them, anyway. Totally inconsistent and incomprehensible naming patterns. And constantly changing, so that one high-end model in a series is followed sequentially by an entry-level slug. And then recycling film camera names into digitals, but with no continuity. Whaddya bet we'll see an upcoming K-Spotmatic-D? Product naming wonks -- fock'em all.
