AA bats & weather seal.. list help

HELLO

Im new to these DSLR's but not new to the Pantex film SLR.

The other day I picked up a K100D off CL and I love it.

Im ready to buy another but I would like AAs & WS.

Im not a fan of non AAA AA C D bats for the simple fact I've charged bats to find out they are realy dead

I was ready to purchase a K-7 the I noticed the bats aren't AAs which is a shame cause I really like the Mag Body.

If you get the BG-2 battery grip for the K7, you can use AA batteries. Otherwise you may be better off to forgo the weather sealing and get a K-r.

The Pentax K200D uses AA batteries and is Weather Sealed.

K7 & K5 use BG-4 batt grip. It has an adaptor that uses AA.

Bob, as Karl pointed out, the battery grip (product # BG-4) for the K-7 and K-5 comes with 2 inserts - one takes the supplied lithium ion battery, the second tray is built to accept 6 AA batteries. You can pair this grip with the K-7 to make a full weather sealed kit. Keep in mind that the original pentax grip BG-4 is the only one sealed, and will run between $150 used to around $200 new. There are a ton of 3rd party knock offs of the bg-4 grip which are not weather sealed, so if you go that route make sure you are getting the original!

the reason the K-7 and K-5 don't take batteries in-camera is that they need more power than 4 cells can provide - that is why the grip takes 6 cells, the cameras need that much juice.

If the K-7 plus grip is too expensive, the only other sealed option is the K200d. That also has a grip available that will take an additional 4 AA batteries, making the camera have 8 in total.

Thank you so much for the help

I really like the K200D for the lighter weight AA bats over the Battery grip is Backpackin.

If it wasn't for the space & weight I love the grip Idea Although It puts the K-5-7 back on the table other adventures.
