Again, with your budget - if you only have the 700, then the 460 deal and get the Tamron also, if you have more, the KR deal and get the Tamron.

I agree. The $700 is a little misleading. i can afford more, I was just trying to keep it to $700. However the K-r brand new just seems too good to pass up.

from how i see it, the K-x with better glass will give you better pictures than a K-r with just a kit lens.

I agree. Bodies come and go, but good glass is always worth spending a bit more on.

Ordered the K-x. $480 shipped. It was the right way to go.

A Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 would be a good walkaround lens to go along with the K-X. Used ones can be found for ~$300 or so in the for sale forum here.

I was faced with the same decision earlier this year and bought the Kx and a Tamron 18-200mm zoom. Best decision I made. I recently returned from a trip to London and Paris and I've been very happy with the walk-around shots from the Tammy...but the Kx paired with my FA50/1.4 are just awesome. I was also really surprised at how well the 50/1.4 and Kx paired for indoor no-flash pictures.

I think you'll be more than happy with your purchase!

That is exactly the setup I recommended to him on page one of this thread...

That is for sure true in my case. After discovering this forum and buying a Kx from the marketplace, LBA has had its grip on me eversince and has yet to let go.

Happy shooting with your K-x!

A cheap alternative would be the Pentax F35-70mm zoom, seems to go for around $50.
SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm F3.5-4.5 Reviews - Pentax Lens Reviews & Pentax Lens Database

It has replaced the kit lens on my K-x (unless I need wide) most of the time. I like the macro-function as well.

Seb.

+1 for k-x . I would have love to suggest k-r but focusing problems with k-r are unlikely to be fixed.

+1 for the K-x and good price too. Just stay away from the K-5 forum.
