K100D Display Question

Hi,

On my better halfs Nikon D3000 you can choose a grid (think tic-tac-toe board) on the display. I have found that invaluable for making sure I am level, framing certain things, etc. I have looked through the manual and such for my K100D but can't find anything. Does anyone know if it has this option? If not, is there a good way to get something or is there a suitable substitute that I'm not seeing in the manual?

Seems to me to be pretty much a bread and butter kind of feature... my el-cheapo Samsung SL-50 point and shoot ($65 new) has it...

Since it doesn't have live view, nope. This feature is available on bodies with live view, however.

I think the only solution with the current body would be for you to put in a focusing screen with a grid.

I just use the AF box on my K100D Super. The edges of the box are close enough to get good rule of thirds framing. And if not, frame it loose and crop exactly how you want it.

If you really need to see the lines, you can get aftermarket focusing screen replacements.

Live view is more a consumerist feature. The later models are offering live view as a default feature (just like video), following the rest of the market. The optical viewfinder is a far superior method of composing and responding to your scene.
